The children were delighted to host our local fire brigade at preschool.

This visit, as part of our fire awareness program, was definitely the highlight of the day. Josh and Kieran engaged the children in a lively discussion about good and bad fires and the appropriate actions to take in an emergency.

The firefighters then demonstrated their equipment to help children feel prepared for real-life encounters. When one firefighter dressed in full gear, our brave children weren’t scared—only curious about all the different parts and gadgets.

Later, Josh and Kieran used a large white towel to represent smoke. The children eagerly demonstrated how to get low and crawl away from danger—an important safety skill.

Finally, we went outside to explore the fire truck with all its fascinating features: the first aid kit, air tanks, ladders, sirens, flashing lights, and more. The grand finale was spraying water to knock over cones, which brought squeals of laughter and huge smiles all around.

It was a day full of learning, excitement, and fun—and a powerful reminder of the importance of fire safety.

Thank you Fire and Rescue NSW Station 236 Braidwood!
